Comparison

RAAD vs CleanClip

CleanClip is a cursor-anchored clipboard manager with Paste Stack and Smart Lists. It's genuinely strong on popup anchored right at the text-input cursor, paste stack auto-advances to the next queued item on each paste, collection lists plus condition-based smart lists for organization.

RAAD takes a different approach: everything runs on-device, with semantic search and on-device ai actions, which cleanclip doesn’t have, an mcp server with write access and an audit trail, secret redaction strips things like api keys before they’re ever written to disk, 38 built-in paste transforms plus custom ai actions. The table below is checked against both apps directly — see sources at the bottom.

Why people switch to RAAD

  • Semantic search and on-device AI actions, which CleanClip doesn’t have
  • An MCP server with write access and an audit trail
  • Secret redaction strips things like API keys before they’re ever written to disk
  • 38 built-in paste transforms plus custom AI actions

Not yet available — on the roadmap

The table above only lists what you can use today. These are built and tested but not shipped in the current release, so they’re never counted as a “yes” above.

On-device AI actions
Model-backed actions (summarize, rewrite, extract) exist in code but are gated off in the shipping build. Instant text transforms (case, encoding, etc.) already ship and are listed separately.
End-to-end encrypted cloud sync
Sync engine and schema exist and are tested, but not wired into the shipping app — no Settings tab, no way to turn it on yet.
Team / shared memory
The encryption layer for shared team boards exists in code but has no shipping UI yet.
iOS / multi-device app
RAAD is Mac-only today. Universal Clipboard lets you paste into iOS manually, but there is no RAAD iOS app.

Common questions

Both CleanClip and RAAD have a cursor-anchored popup — what’s the difference?

Both anchor the popup at your cursor rather than a fixed menu-bar dropdown. Beyond that, RAAD adds semantic search, on-device AI actions, OCR with bounding boxes, and an MCP server that CleanClip doesn’t have.

Is CleanClip cheaper than RAAD?

CleanClip’s direct one-time price is $19.99-$29.99 depending on device count, or $1.99/mo ($14.99/yr) via the Mac App Store. Check the pricing table above for RAAD’s current tiers.

Does CleanClip have paste transforms or AI actions?

CleanClip has some format-and-paste presets, but not the explicit case-conversion and trim tools RAAD ships, and no on-device AI actions. RAAD has 38 built-in transforms plus customizable AI actions.

Does CleanClip work on iOS?

Yes, CleanClip has an iOS and visionOS app alongside macOS. RAAD is Mac-only today, with an iOS app on the roadmap but not yet shipped.
