Comparison
RAAD vs Unclutter
Unclutter is a pull-down panel combining files, notes, and clipboard history. It's genuinely strong on combines clipboard history, quick notes, and a file drop-zone in one hideaway tray, explicitly hides sensitive data like password-manager copies and never writes it to disk, long track record — apple-featured multiple years, still actively maintained.
RAAD takes a different approach: everything runs on-device, with semantic search and on-device ai actions across a full clipboard history — unclutter caps history at 10-50 recent items, an mcp server with write access and an audit trail, ocr with line-level bounding boxes, encrypted local backups independent of any third-party cloud account. The table below is checked against both apps directly — see sources at the bottom.

Why people switch to RAAD
- Semantic search and on-device AI actions across a full clipboard history — Unclutter caps history at 10-50 recent items
- An MCP server with write access and an audit trail
- OCR with line-level bounding boxes
- Encrypted local backups independent of any third-party cloud account
Not yet available — on the roadmap
The table above only lists what you can use today. These are built and tested but not shipped in the current release, so they’re never counted as a “yes” above.
- On-device AI actions
- Model-backed actions (summarize, rewrite, extract) exist in code but are gated off in the shipping build. Instant text transforms (case, encoding, etc.) already ship and are listed separately.
- End-to-end encrypted cloud sync
- Sync engine and schema exist and are tested, but not wired into the shipping app — no Settings tab, no way to turn it on yet.
- Team / shared memory
- The encryption layer for shared team boards exists in code but has no shipping UI yet.
- iOS / multi-device app
- RAAD is Mac-only today. Universal Clipboard lets you paste into iOS manually, but there is no RAAD iOS app.
Common questions
Is Unclutter a dedicated clipboard manager?
Not really — Unclutter is a "desktop declutter" tool that bundles a clipboard panel, quick notes, and a file shelf into one hideaway tray. Its clipboard panel caps history at 10, 25, or 50 recent items. RAAD is a dedicated clipboard manager with full, searchable history.
Does Unclutter protect passwords like RAAD does?
Unclutter explicitly hides sensitive data like password-manager copies and doesn’t write it to disk — a genuine strength worth crediting. RAAD goes further with secret redaction (stripping things like API keys before they touch disk) across its whole capture pipeline, not just password managers.
Is Unclutter cheaper than RAAD?
Unclutter is a $19.99 one-time purchase (also available via the Setapp subscription bundle). Check the pricing table above for RAAD’s current tiers.
